Wine Tasting Tour in Castelli Romani

Enjoy a drive to the Castelli Romani countryside on a private wine tour.

On this excursion you’ll visit the famous wine making region of Frascati and the esteemed Antico Casale Minardi estate to taste wines and other products.

On this 4-hour excursion you’ll head out of Rome with your private driver to the wooded hills of Castelli Romani. The name of the area translates as Roman castles, but in reality it simply refers to a collection of wine-producing hills just southeast of Rome.

The tour, priced for a group of up to 4 people, stops at Antico Casale, where you’ll meet the winemaker and then tour the vineyard and cellars. Learn how the wine is produced and maybe even sample a grape fresh off of the vine.

After the winery tour, you’ll sit down for a tasting session and sample 3 varieties of wine that are produced here.

The first wine you’ll taste is a white Frascati DOCG, which means the wine has its designation of origin guaranteed. The second is a red wine IGP, which has a protected geographical indication. And last but not least, taste a sweet Cannellino wine.

Each wine is paired with a delicious Italian specialty, such as Roman pizza or Minardi olive oil, as well as in-season fruits and vegetables from the garden.

Fantastic to experience the winery and the wine tasting!
July 19, 2017

Everything was smooth, from the pick-up at the hotel until return. We got very nice explanation about grapes, olives and production and saw really nice scenery. The wine tasting was 2 white and 1 red wine which we really enjoyed together with small finger foods. We also got more insight to how to fully enjoy the aroma and the wine. All in all a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!

Revealed Wine And Its Secrets
June 4, 2017

I will never see wine in the same way again. The depth of knowledge of grapes, climate, and the terrain wine has been yielded is worth knowing. This 300 year old wine yard has been in the same hands since inception and the owner is prepared to part with his knowledge so amicably is refreshing. The things to look for in wine, the pre-aroma, the deeper aroma and of course the taste that gives you the specificity and the region it belongs to that gives its individuality. An experience that is overwhelming.
